So, how much Omega-3 a day? For best results take 2 capsules per day
with food and a glass of water.
Can be taken at the same time or as a divided dose. For individuals unable to consume capsules, and for babies
and young children, the capsules can be pierced and the oil contents
consumed directly or added to food.
From 24 months and upwards we recommend the full dose of 2 x capsules per day. We do offer Omega-3 Liquid too, where a teaspoon provides the same dose as 2 x capsules.
Opti3 Complex (Microalgal Oils, Helianthus Annuus Oil, Antioxidants (Rosemary Extract, Tocopherols, Ascorbyl Palmitate)), Cholecalciferol, Vegetarian Capsule Shell (Modified Starch, Vegan Glycerol, Carrageenan, Sodium Carbonate).

Why is Omega‑3 important?
Omega-3 can lower blood pressure, reduces triglycerides in the blood, helps reduce joint inflammation in rheumatoid disease, helps nourish brain and eye function, helps prevent and alleviate the risks of dementia, depression, asthma, migraine, and diabetes, as well as reducing the risk of heart disease and ischemic stroke.
"The grey matter in our brain is about 40% DHA. As well as brain health, DHA is also important for eye care and general health. EPA is more about reducing inflammation so it's very important for reducing the chances of heart disease. DHA and EPA work independently in many ways and together in others. There are links to benefits across almost every ailment you can think of including ADHD, asthma, improving mood and alleviating symptoms of depression. Omega-3s should definitely be classed as vitamins!"

Understanding Omega‑3 Types: EPA, DHA & ALA
Omega-3s are essential fats that our bodies require but cannot produce on their own. The main types of Omega-3s are EPA, DHA, and ALA. These fatty acids play a crucial role in maintaining optimal health, particularly benefiting our eyes, heart, and brain. 40% of the grey matter in the brain is made up of Omega 3 in DHA form, so increasing our intake of omega 3 essential fatty acids boosts the building blocks of the brain. This helps with attentiveness and focus, improves cognitive function, brain development and brain cell regeneration.
Dry eyes and irritated skin can be uncomfortable and antisocial. No one enjoys scratching during meetings or at dinner, and it can get worse when we sweat, so the gym or that weekend run can become a deeply unpleasant experience. If your skin is driving you mad, or you’re suffering hair thinning or hair loss, depression, joint pain or stiffness, you may be lacking in omega-3. If your body does not have enough omega-3 fats available, it may start asking for help, and the discomfort could intensify.
When it comes Omega-3 and nutrition, it’s really important we get the right kind of Omega-3. That starts with understanding the different types.
There are three main types of Omega-3, all of which fall into the same category, but they are really different. We are talking about DHA, EPA, and ALA.
DHA – also known as Docosahexaenoic Acid – DHA is what makes up 40% of the grey matter. It’s an absolutely vital component, of the brain and the retina.
EPA – also known as Eicosapentaenoic Acid – EPA stimulates powerful anti-inflammatory processes in the body.
ALA – also known as Alpha Linolenic Acid - ALA is an inactive form of Omega-3. It’s very commonly found but it needs to be converted by the body to be effective, the conversion rate is incredibly low.
So when it comes to the types Omega-3 that are most useful for our bodies and nutrition, we’re looking for a high strength DHA and EPA.
