Omega‑3 sourced from microalgae

Most Omega-3 supplements are made from unsustainable fish oil, killing as many as 50 fish per bottle and transferring toxins from the oceans into each capsule - but the Omega-3 actually comes from the animal's diet of algae, not the fish itself. So, we've skipped the middle-fish and created a safer, more sustainable alternative from microalgae, grown in tanks at a specialist manufacturing facility.

It’s great for kids!

Omega-3 Liquid is suitable for all of the family. It can be taken from a spoon or added to food. For babies and infants up to 2 years old we recommend 2.5ml (half a teaspoon).

Did you know?

The Omega-3 found in fish actually comes from their diet of algae, not the fish itself. Our Omega-3 contains EPA and DHA, the correct forms of omega-3 for the body to absorb and use, and the exact same forms found in fish. It's actually higher strength than most fish-based supplements!

Can dogs take this supplement? What’s your recommended dosage? Thanks. Hi, yes we have a lot of customers giving our Omega-3 products to pets. For the Bottled Liquid we recommend half teaspoon (2.5ml) per day for small dogs and a full teaspoon (5ml) for larger dogs. For the Capsules, 1 per day for small dogs, 2 per day for large dogs.
Hi I am wondering why you recommend such a high dose of 2.5ml omega 3 liquid for babies under 2? The RDI for DHA in infants 6-24 months set by the EFSA is 100 mg / day: https://efsa.onlinelibrary.wil... The UK legislation on formula milk says that formula milks should provide a minimum of 70 mg and a maximum of 175 mg of DHA per 500 ml of formula (which is the average estimated amount of formula milk between 6-12 months): https://www.legislation.gov.uk... Most formulas provide around 100 mg per 500 ml. 250 mg of DHA (2.5 ml of Opti 3) is the RDI for children > 2 years and healthy adults, but not for babies. I don't know why you are recommending these higher doses. Can you please provide the reasoning? Thanks JamieHi, advice on DHA (and EPA) intake for babies and infants differs greatly in different regions around the world. We have studied the advice from UK, European and US authorities in particular. Many regions suggest 0-12 months (0-15lb) should take a combined 500mg EPA+DHA per day, with 12-36 months (15-40lbs) 800mg EPA+DHA per day. Some limitations on levels are related to fish source too, and the possibility of undesirable accompanying compounds, which don't apply to our product. Taking everything into account, we recommend 2.5ml, which provides 250mg DHA and 150mg EPA per day. Should parents wish to reduce further, 1.25ml provides 125mg DHA and 75mg EPA.
Hi, I'm very happy with the oil after taking it for a month. Could you please send the full ingredients list including what strains of micro algae? Thank you! Hi, the full ingredient lists are on the product pages of the Vegetology website (and on the product labels). We use Schizochytrium species microalgae.
Please can you let me know more about how the the sea algae is grown? I understand it is in a lab, but are the conditions otherwise as natural as possible i.e. sea water, sunlight and organic? Many thanksHi, the algae are grown in large tanks in a sea water media and with carefully controlled lighting conditions. The growth is organic in terms of purity (i.e. nothing else goes in, no pesticides required etc.).
why dont you use flax oil in your Omega‑3 Liquid instead of olive oil, as olive oil is high in Omega 6?Hi, we need the antioxidant power of the Olive Oil (we use an Extra Virgin grade with high AO content) in order to keep the microalgal Omega-3 stable. Flax wouldn't do the job at all unfortunately.
Can you take the drops in coffee? How many drops per day? Thank you.Hi, we don't recommend adding Omega-3 to hot drinks, as the the polyunsaturated fatty acids may be damaged by the heat. It is best to take directly or consider adding to cold foods.
