Keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible is high on our agenda. From the materials we choose, to the way our products are shipped, we’re constantly finding ways to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. That’s why all our packaging is produced in the UK, made from recycled material where possible and is either 100% biodegradable, fully recyclable, or both!
Why Packaging Choices Matter
Traditional plastic packaging has long been a major contributor to pollution, with millions of tonnes ending up in landfill and oceans every year. By choosing eco-friendly packaging, we’re helping to break this cycle. Our materials are designed not only to protect our products but also to protect the planet thus reducing waste, conserving resources, and cutting carbon emissions.
Each decision we make, from bottle design to postal packaging, reflects our belief that sustainability should never be an afterthought.
Our Eco-Plastic Bottles
We often get asked about our bottles and why we don’t use glass. Glass bottles actually take a lot of energy to make. They also take a lot of energy to transport because of their weight. This then contributes to glass’s carbon emissions being one of the highest of all the packaging types, even though they can be recycled! Whilst they are the most safe and eco option for our liquid products, we decided on an innovative alternative for our capsules and tablets: Eco-plastic bottles!
Our eco-plastic bottles are a breakthrough in sustainable packaging. Made from sugar cane, these bottles are both recyclable and biodegradable and best of all, they’re completely carbon neutral!

We always recommend that you add your eco-plastic bottle to your recycling, but if it does end up in the bin, it’s not the end of the world. The material has been designed for accelerated biodegradation when it is disposed of in a biologically active ecosystem such as landfill or compost. So, if it isn't recycled it will turn into water within 10 years - that's around 440 years faster than a conventional plastic bottle! This provides an effective back-up plan because we never want to see any of our packaging lingering in waste systems.
The eco-plastic bottle has been extensively tested to verify the biodegradability in different environments, also ensuring that in a household environment it will behave as any other bottle and survive beyond the shelf-life of any Vegetology product before the biodegradable breakdown process begins. They’ve been rigorously verified for biodegradability under multiple conditions, including:
⚬ Aerobic environments (ISO 14855)
⚬ Anaerobic environments (ISO 15985)
⚬ Wastewater (ISO 14853)
⚬ Marine water (ASTM D 6691)
So, whether they’re recycled or biodegraded, our bottles leave behind nothing but water and peace of mind.
Our Glass Bottles
For our liquid supplements, we use 100% recyclable brown glass bottles. Not only are they recyclable, but they also serve a vital purpose: protecting the contents inside. The dark glass helps to stabilize and preserve the supplement, preventing oxidation and maintaining product integrity.
When you’ve finished your last dose, simply rinse and recycle the bottle. Glass can be infinitely recycled without losing quality, a small action with a big environmental payoff.

Our Postal Packaging

Sustainability doesn’t stop at our bottles. Every order we send out is carefully packed in 100% recyclable cardboard boxes, and even our packaging chips are biodegradable and made from starch instead of the standard plastic or polystyrene.
These chips are completely eco-friendly and quick to break down. Either dispose of them in your recycling or general waste bin or you can even drop them into water and watch them dissolve!
All our postal packaging has undergone rigorous testing to ensure it’s environmentally safe throughout its lifespan and fully compliant with global regulations for food.
The Bigger Picture
Choosing biodegradable and recyclable materials is about more than just reducing waste, it’s about taking responsibility for our footprint on the planet. Every eco-conscious decision adds up to a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.
At Vegetology we strive to be part of that change! By producing locally, using renewable materials, and designing packaging that returns safely to nature, we’re proving that sustainability and quality can go hand in hand.
Together, we can make packaging that doesn’t just protect products, it protects the planet.
