The main thing with supplements is to avoid taking them on a completely empty stomach (so avoid first thing in the morning before breakfast), so in this case it is worth taking the Omega-3 supplement mid-morning or mid-afternoon. This will give your body time to fully digest the prior meal, and we expect that you'll be able to rule the Omega-3 out as contributing to any digestive issues.
I have been taking the omega 3 supplements, and I see it contains some small amount of carrageenan, how many mg do the capsules contain of it, to make the capsule?Hi, you are correct a small amount of Carrageenan (<20mg) is used as part of the capsule shell. Just to say - carrageenan is inert and perfectly safe. It wrongly gets linked to data on Polygeenan (a degraded derivative). Carrageenan is a natural gum found in Kelp seaweed and is used widely in foods at much higher levels. We wouldn't dream of using any ingredients unless we were totally satisfied with their safety and suitability.
Does it contain Iodine?Our Omega-3 products do not contain Iodine.
What is the extraction method?We use an enzyme extraction method. Cold pressing isn't possible because the microalgae are too small.
How much tocopherol is added?We use D-Alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E) extracted from Sunflower Oil. It is a small amount, approximately 0.1%, solely to provide antioxidant protection for the Omega-3 Oil. It isn't at a level of nutritional significance.

We just cut out the "middle fish" and go straight to the algae, so the output is the same but without killing fill/crustaceans and with a much purer product.

Whats worst case in using it anyway?Hi, as long as the product remains within shelf-life and has been unopened, it will be absolutely fine. We recommend storage in the Fridge once opened. The worst case is the oil oxidises, but if it has been stored suitably and remains in-date, it will be fine.

I know you haven't written that you do that, but it got me to thinking that depending on water source, even if not ocean, it could have contaminantes. You answered that the olive oil is virgin oil, does that mean EVOO? Also is it cold pressed soley by mechanical means? I ask as someone with numerous health problems, who is really trying to improve through my diet as well as my consultants; as it's said industrial produced oils are damaging to the artery lining I want to avoid that.

Also, correct, Vitamin E is solely present to help protect the Algal Omega-3 Oil against oxidative damage during the production process. Rosemary extract is a selective extract of the antioxidants in Rosemary. Ascorbyl Palmitate is an oil-based Vitamin C (it is Ascorbic Acid coupled with Palmitic Acid of canola origin, which makes the Ascorbic Acid oil-soluble). The combination of Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract and Ascorbyl Palmitate are used in very small quantities to provide protection against oxidation during production. They offer no nutritional value due to the small quantities used.

We haven't to date concluded that Algal Omega-3 is better than Fish Oil Omega-3 in this regard, but would certainly be on a par. It is something we will look at in more detail though!

You might find the liquid goes a bit cloudy after long periods of storage at very low temperature, but this is just some of the fatty acids solidifying. It's totally fine and if you allow the liquid to warm back to ambient temperature and give it a little shake, it will go fully clear again.

If you are ok taking capsules, we recommend this as the best option because the Algal Omega-3 is better protected and therefore lasts longer. If you opt for the Liquid, please keep it refrigerated. At around 4°C, it will remain clear. Below that temperature some of the fatty acids will start to solidify and it might look a bit cloudy or lumpy. It is totally fine though, and can be left at ambient temperature for a short time to melt and regain its clarity.
Hello! I've been using your products for over a year now, and I'm very happy with them! I used to purchase the omega-3 capsules, but would like to try it in liquid form. Unfortunately, money is tight lately and I already take your multivitamin, and occasionally the b12 and vollagen, too (occasionally because I can't afford to take them daily). That constitutes approximately 60% of the formula, as it is required to stabilise the Omega-3 Algal Oil. Olive Oil is approximately 83% Oleic Acid, 20% Linoleic Acid and smaller amounts of other fatty acids. Olive Oil isn't present in our Omega-3 capsules as it is not required. If stored correctly in a cool, dry location (or ideally in the Refrigerator), our stability studies show the Omega-3 Oil remains stable within this time period. It's actually around 12 weeks, but we say 8 weeks to give a bit of a margin. The Algal taste will develop during that 8 weeks, however the Omega-3 stability remain intact and rancidity (Peroxide value / Totox) remain low during the period.

Why use Olive Oil as a base when Olive is so high in Omega 6? Would it not be wiser (and better aligned with an Omega 3 product) to use cold pressed Flax Oil as a base? The specific type and amount of Olive Oil is low enough that the Omega-6 level isn't significant.If you do want to avoid Olive Oil, our Omega-3 capsules do not contain any.

However heavy metals are not risk items as our algae are grown in tanks and not taken from the oceans (so purity is completely controlled and no heavy metal contamination risk).

Hi, the absorption between Omega-3 Capsules and Omega-3 Liquid is the same. There are no concerns about carrageenan to be honest, it is sometimes wrongly connected to data on relevant to 'poligeenan' (a degraded derivative of carrageenan never used in foods).
