What is the source of your calcium and why have you chosen calcium carbonate rather than calcium citrate which is gentler on the stomach and absorbed more easily?Hi, the Calcium is from its natural ground mineral source. We use Carbonate because it is more concentrated in elemental Calcium. The Citrate form is good in some formulas, but it is more dilute and would mean a significantly larger tablet to try and obtain the required content of elemental Calcium. We have balanced the formula to deliver each of the nutrients well (D3, K2 and Calcium work incredibly well together in this way) and our testing has shown no reported issues with stomach sensitivity.
Hi is your new cal-d3 +k2 chewable also suitable for children? how big is the tablet? also how does it taste like? I find no label info on use of natural flavours and is it free of sucralose? also for the future - why not opt for a more bioavailable calcium source as carbonate is poorly absorbed? Like citrate or even better a marine based form. I know this could impact the elementary value of the calcium and or taste - but I would also gladly give my son 2 tablets a day if you could also add decent amount of magnesium (e.g. citrate or marine-based form) so i would not need to purchase separate magnesium product. Br MartinHi, our Calcium + Vit D3 + Vit K2 chewable tablet is suitable for children over 11. If you have younger children who have no problem chewing tablets (or confectionery items!) that are approximately 1.4cm in diameter and 0.7cm in height, they should be fine taking this, as it breaks down quickly upon chewing. The full ingredient list can be accessed on the product page - it does not contain any Sucralose (not that Sucralose is in any way problematic at the very low levels used in such formulas). The tablets don't have a flavour as such, but a little sweetness comes from the Triacetin, to take away the inherent bitterness from the mineral. The challenge with mineral forms is how dilute forms such as Citrate are in actual elemental Calcium, so it is indeed a balance between higher elemental Calcium or a significantly lower amount of a more bioavailable form. Our view is that in the case of Calcium, it is better to have a higher elemental amount, which counters any compromise in bioavailability. Our consumer research tells us that the added cost and undesirability associated with the dose increasing to 2 or 3 tablets per day, or having a lower elemental Calcium level, would render the product non-viable.
I just notice that you say to chew the tablets below. Not sure what they taste like but if I don't like them can I just swallow?Hi, yes it is fine to swallow without chewing.
Why did you include vitamin K2 as well as calcium and vitamin D?Calcium and vitamin D3 are well known for bone support, but vitamin K2 plays an important role too. It contributes to the maintenance of normal bones by helping direct calcium to where it's needed, your bones and teeth. Including all three means you're getting a more complete approach to bone support in one convenient tablet.
When should I take Calcium + Vit D3 + K2?Chew one tablet per day, ideally with food and water. Taking it with a meal can support absorption. There's no specific time of day that's best, just pick a moment that fits your routine so it becomes a habit.
What Calcium and Vitamin D3 formulas do you offer? We recognise that a lot of our customers take multiple supplements together. So in addition to our Calcium, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 product, we do also offer Vitamin D3 on its own - in different strengths - and a formula that is just Calcium and Vitamin D3 - without the K2 - so our customers have the flexibility to pick the formula that best fits into your daily supplement regimes.
Can I take it with your multivitamin or other products? In most cases, yes. We've designed our range so products can be combined, but it's always worth checking our supplement compatibility guide on the website, especially if you're taking multiple products that contain vitamin D or K. That way you can keep track of your total intake.
Is this suitable for vegans?Yes, completely. The vitamin D3 is plant-based, sourced from lichen, and the K2 is vegan-friendly too, produced using fermentation. Calcium is a natural mineral. There's no fish, seafood, dairy, or any other animal-derived ingredients. It's also suitable if you have allergies to those foods.
